Sustainable Salons is once again set to sweep up the locks that Australia bravely shaves in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
From 13 – 17 March, we’ll be collecting all the hair shaved from events around the country and repurposing it into the Hair Boom Project and local composting solutions.
Plus, we’ll collect all hairspray cans and ponytails longer than 20cm too!

Speaking of ponytails, after the 2018 shave events finished, we decided to leave the depot doors wide open to receive ponytail donations from fundraisers throughout the year… and let’s just say, we’re now on first name basis with our postie. In just 12 months, we’ve received 4,500 ponytails from World’s Greatest Shave fundraisers alone – that could make 225 wigs! And they keep on comin’!Every single day we receive precious packages from those who’ve sacrificed their long locks to raise money in the fight against blood cancer – and have gone the extra mile to donate their ponytails to give confidence back to someone suffering from medically-induced hair-loss. Bring on 2019… can Australia’s shavers take it even further? We can’t wait to find out! |

More than 100,000 Australians are currently living with blood cancers and another 35 Australians are diagnosed every day. Sadly, an Australian will lose their life to the disease every 41 minutes. But when 20,000 Aussies put their hand up to give bald a go, the funds raised help find a cure and support families managing the disease. |

s In 2018, we set our salon network a challenge – host a shave event in your salon, join our Super Team and help us meet our $10,000 fundraising goal. Well, it seems we have a network of overachievers. The Sustainable Salons Super Team raised $27,436 for World’s Greatest Shave in 2018, which made us the 16th highest fundraiser in our Head Office territory of NSW/ACT. |
